State Representative Cindy Winckler of Davenport announced today that she will seek re-election to the Iowa House of Representatives in House District 90, which includes Southern parts of Davenport and the city of Buffalo.
Winckler, who is currently serving her seventh term, is one of the experts in the Iowa House on education and education funding. She serves as Ranking Member of the Education Budget Subcommittee, and serves on the Appropriations, Education, Human Resources, and State Government Committees.
Winckler is a long-time resident of Davenport, graduating from West High School. She earned a BSE in Home Economics from Northeast Missouri State University and her master’s degree in Educational Technology from the University of Northern Iowa. Since her retirement as an educator, Winckler serves as a board member of Scott County Kids Early Childhood Iowa Board, Eastern Iowa Small Business Development Advisory Council; and is a member of Davenport Schools Network for Community and School Partnership. She has been a member of Business and Professional Women for many years, and served as national president of that organization in 1994-95.
She and her husband, Joe, have been married since 1973 and have two married adult children, Joseph and Courtney and five grandchildren. Winckler is serving as a commissioner on the Education Commission of the States and is a member of the University of Northern Iowa College of Education Advisory Committee.
