- Another 10,939 Iowans were infected with COVID-19 in the past seven days. Iowa has confirmed 32,000 cases of COVID since the beginning of October. Unfortunately, there were 97 more deaths this week. Iowa has seen 349 COVID deaths since just the beginning of October.
- Iowa hospitals have also seen a surge in COVID cases reaching a record 609 Iowans in the hospital. 95% of Iowa hospitals have seen confirmed or suspected cases of the disease on a daily basis. Despite the uptick in cases and hospitalizations, Gov. Reynolds has not taken any action or held an official news conference since Oct. 7 and is not expected to hold any more until after the election.
- The Whitehouse Coronavirus Task Force contributes many cases of COVID to small indoor gatherings of friends and family. They are finding that as the weather cools off, friends and families are moving social gatherings indoors, significantly increasing spread. Please continue to take precautions including:
*Wearing a mask
*Keeping a safe distance from others
*Staying home if sick
*Washing your hands often
*Covering your cough/sneeze
