Teresa Meyer, a cardiology nurse, announced today she will run for State Representative in House District 63, which includes Bremer County and part of Black Hawk County.
Meyer is a graduate of Hawkeye Community College with a degree in Nursing. She is a cardiology nurse working on the skilled unit at New Aldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls. She serves on the Board of Trustees at Hawkeye Community College. Meyer is also a member of the American Nurses Association, Communication Workers of America, and the League of Women Voters.
Meyer and her husband of 37 years, Randy, have two children. A son, Travis, who lives in Denison,Iowa with his wife and two children. Their daughter, Jillian, lives in Shell Rock. Meyer is an active volunteer at the Waterloo Hospitality House and North Star in Waverly. She and her husband are members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly.
Teresa Meyer brings a special touch in her campaign for a seat in the Iowa State House: that of a woman who knows the needs and hopes of other women as seen through her resourceful career in the medical arts of a cardiology nurse. Most people have always said that a woman’s place is in the home, but Teresa Meyer expands that cliché by moving it to reality: a woman’s place is also in the House that makes decisions for home makers, those needing assistance, and those seeking help. She deserves widespread support.
