The Iowa Arts Council, part of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, is accepting nominations for the Governor’s Arts Awards to recognize and honor individuals, organizations and businesses who have added to the art industry in Iowa.  Presentation of these awards will occur at the 2014 Iowa Arts Summit on June 6 in Des Moines.

The categories include:

  • Public Art Leadership Award – for the demonstration of leadership and commitment to developing public art in Iowa
  • Collaboration and Partnership in the Arts Award – for undertakers of artistic cooperation that bring together diverse partners from within and beyond the Iowa arts community
  • Excellence and Innovation in the Arts Award – for those dedicated to artistic excellence and capitalizing on new or emerging methods or trends in the arts
  • Impact and Accessibility in the Arts Award – for the initiation of community-wide artistic undertaking of broad scope and which seeks to serve Iowans; or, for seeking to improve accessibility to the arts for an underserved target population in Iowa

Nominations for the Governor’s Arts Awards must be submitted by April 30, 2014, at www.iowaartssummit.com/get-involved.
