Ross Wilburn is serving his second term as State Representative in House District 46, which includes North Ames and the western parts of Story County.
Wilburn is a longtime social worker advocating for children, youth, families, and justice issues and has dedicated his life to service. Upon graduating high school, Wilburn joined up with the Iowa Army National Guard to help pay for college.
Rep. Wilburn previously served as a diversity officer and associate director for community economic development at Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. He was recently elected as the Iowa Democratic Party State Party Chairperson.
Wilburn served as a twelve year city council member and in 2006 became the first African American mayor of Iowa City.
