State Representative Dave Jacoby of Coralville announced today that he will seek re-election to the Iowa House of Representatives in District 74. The district includes Coralville, portions of western Iowa City, and Penn Township.

“It’s an honor serving the people of District 74, and I ask for the opportunity to continue working to improve the lives of everyday Iowans,” said Jacoby.  “I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together, but there’s more we can do to make Iowa schools number one again, prepare our workforce for 21st century jobs, and make healthcare more affordable and accessible.”

Jacoby is serving his 9th term in the Iowa House. He is Ranking Member of the Ways and Means Committee, and sits on the Commerce, Economic Growth, and Natural Resources Committees.

Before joining the Legislature, Jacoby served two terms on the Coralville City Council. There, he was a leader in developing policy in a high growth and community-oriented city. Jacoby’s service on the Council helps him solve local government challenges and assess economic development needs while in the Legislature.

Dave and his wife, Lynette, live in Coralville. Lynette is the Director of Johnson County Social Services. She earned her Bachelor of Arts and Masters in Social Work from the University of Iowa. Dave and Lynette have two daughters: Ellie, 21, attends Drake University and Anna, 19, attends the University of Iowa.  The Jacobys have two rescue golden retrievers Shea and Sylvia.

Dave is active in the Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce and is a member of Carpenters Local 1260. He previously served on the Alternative School Committee, Empowerment Board, and Juvenile Justice Committee. Dave is also a member of the Victory Riders Association, and Parents Against Synthetic Drugs.
