State Representative Roger Thomas of Elkader received the 2007 Leadership Award from the Professional Developers of Iowa. Thomas is chair of the House Economic Growth Committee.  The award was announced in the PDI October newsletter:

“As many of you know, the PDI Leadership Award is presented to a legislator that has played a lead role in promoting economic development in Iowa and in advancing PDI’s goals of promoting a positive business climate, expanding the state’s tax base, creating and retaining high-paying jobs and building the industries of the future.

In 2007, there were a number of legislators that worked to advance PDI’s goals, which makes this year’s award recipient all the more worthy for rising to the top of that list. Rep. Roger Thomas serves as the Chairman of the House Economic Growth Committee. He has worked closely with PDI for a number of years on such issues as Values Fund wage thresholds, laborshed data collection and several others. This past session, Rep. Thomas worked on several issues ranging from the Power Fund to Targeted Industries to Historic Tax Credits and he sought PDI’s input at almost every turn as these issues developed throughout out the session.

This is the 4th PDI Leadership Award. It goes to a legislator who puts the state’s economic future ahead of partisanship and politics, and we are honored to give to Rep. Roger Thomas of Elkader
