Newton State Rep. Dan Kelley will seek re-election to the Iowa House in 2012 in the new District 29, which covers all of Newton and part of Jasper County.
“Serving the people of Jasper County in the Iowa House is a great honor and I look forward to running for another term. I’m proud of our progress this year, our community has a bright future with good schools, a quality workforce, and growing industries like renewable
energy,” said Kelley, who is serving his first term in the Iowa House.
Kelley is the Ranking Member of the Administration and Regulations Appropriations Committee and also serves on Agriculture, Education, Ethics, Environmental Protection and Natural Resources.
“My top priority is to help middle class families. We need world class schools, affordable higher education, and quality health care for Iowa families,” said Kelley, who runs his own small business in Newton and is also a realtor. “Iowans treasure our natural resources and expect clean air and water for their families. We can create jobs and help businesses expand without sacrificing our natural resources.”
Rep. Kelley is a graduate of Newton High School and a Fred Maytag Scholar. He graduated with honors from the University of Iowa and then returned to Newton to establish a small business and begin his real estate career.
