State Representative Jerry Kearns of Lee County announced today that he will seek re-election to the Iowa House of Representatives for House District 83 which includes most of Lee County.

Kearns is currently serving his third term in the Iowa House. He serves as Ranking Member of the Veterans Affairs committee and is also on the Ag, Ethics, Labor and Ways and Means committees.

Kearns is a staff representative for the United Steelworkers International Union. Prior to his current position, he was employed for 38 years by Henniges Automotive (formerly Metzeler) in Keokuk as an industrial electrician. He is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a member of Trinity Methodist Church, the Elks, the American Legion and numerous organized labor organizations. Kearns also served on the Lee County Board of Supervisors for 18 years. He and his wife Diane live in Keokuk and have two grown sons and seven grandchildren.
