State Representative Dan Muhlbauer of Manilla announced today that he will seek re-election to the Iowa House of Representatives in House District 12, which includes Carroll, Crawford and Audubon Counties.

Muhlbauer is currently serving his second term in the Iowa House and is Ranking Member of the Administrative Rules Committee. He also serves on the Agriculture, Public Safety, Veterans Affairs and Ways and Means committees.  He was also elected by his peers to serve as Chair of the House Rural Caucus. The Rural Caucus was created to give legislators an opportunity to work together on issues like boosting rural job creation, meeting Iowa’s rural infrastructure needs, and guaranteeing adequate resources for rural schools.

Muhlbauer and his wife, Patti, were married in 1978 and they have 3 grown children and seven grandchildren. They live on a farm outside Manilla.  They are members of United Methodist Church in Manning.

He has served on several boards including the Crawford Co. Development Corporation, Youth Emergency Services in Cherokee, and West Central Community Action in Harlan.  He has served as secretary for West Central Community Action and as chairman of the emergency foods and shelter program for the West Central organization.
