Funds paid for disaster recovery have now topped $1 billion. The money, part of the $3.6 billion promised to Iowa, has been used by individuals, local communities, and the state to recover from the floods and tornadoes of 2008.
For the first time, this includes funds expended by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for levee work and other projects in Iowa. The chart provides a snapshot of the latest funding information as of November 30, 2009.
