The Obama Administration announced today that Iowa will receive two National Emergency Grants for Iowa communities suffering from recent layoffs.  The announcement was made by US Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis in a visit to Iowa and funding comes from federal stimulus package signed by President Obama in February (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act).

Northwest Iowa will receive over $664,000 to help workers who lost their jobs due to the closure of RR Donnelley in Spencer find new jobs. 

Northeast Iowa will receive $335,853 to help 125 workers displaced by the closure of Atwood Mobil in West Union find new jobs.
