Larry is a member of the Pork Producers of Iowa, the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association, the Iowa Corn Growers Association and the Washington County Farm Bureau. Larry is also a former county soil commissioner
A lifelong supporter of 4-H and its foundation, Larry has received various awards in his service to agriculture: Master Pork Producer, Meritorious Service to 4-H and Iowa 4-H Foundation Recognition. He also received the Farm Family of the Year award in Washington County.

Larry has served for more than 20 years on the Washington County Fair Board and has held several offices on the board, including president. He was also director of his local bank for 11 years. Larry has served on various county committees, including FMHA, FSA, County Compensation Board and Extension Council. He has served on the Washington County Riverboat Foundation, which is in charge of awarding grants from the Riverside Resort and Casino.

Larry’s standing committee assignments with the House of Representatives include: Agriculture, which he is the Vice Chair, Economic Growth, Natural Resources and Transportation. He is also Vice Chair of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee and serves on the Appropriations Subcomittee.

Larry was born in Washington County and graduated from Washington High School. He continued his education at Iowa State University in a two-year farm operations program.

Larry proudly served his country for 8 1/2 years in the National Guard. He is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside and served as the parish’s president and as a trustee, member of the finance counsel and lector.
Larry lives on his farm with his wife, Jan. They have two sons, who live in Washington County, and a daughter who lives in North Carolina. Larry and Jan are the proud grandparents of 10 grandchildren.
