Osage High School Principal and retired Lt. Colonel Tim Hejhal of Osage is running for State Representative in House District 51, which includes Worth, Mitchell, Howard, and part of Winneshiek County.

Hejhal has been a school administrator for 12 years with a total of 29 years in education, working in Osage, Dubuque, and the MFL Mar-Mac school districts. He retired from the Iowa Air National Guard after 29 years, serving in the 185th Air National Guard Refueling Wing in Sioux City. He has coached several sports at the middle and high school levels, including wrestling, football, and baseball. He has also been a volunteer youth coach for soccer, baseball, softball, and volleyball.

Tim and his wife, Donna, have three grown children. Danielle is a senior at Iowa State University, Sara is a UNI graduate finishing dental school at the University of Iowa, and Trevor currently works for IBM as a Financial Analyst. They have one granddaughter. Donna currently works for Keystone AEA1 as a Special Education Consultant. She has also been both an elementary and special education teacher.
Tim is a native of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa and attended Northwestern College in Orange City. He earned his master’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa. Tim has donated over 6 gallons of blood and has mentored several children over the last 8 years through the Bridges Mentoring Program in Mitchell County. He is a member of the Osage Lions Club and the Mitchell County Substance Abuse Coalition.
