Paul is a sixth-generation Iowan who was born in Denison and raised on the family farm in Crawford County. He is the youngest of ten children. In addition to farming, his mother was a nurse and his father was a maintenance worker. Paul is an educator who taught law, leadership, and theatre at Northwestern University before returning to Iowa in 2012. He is currently researching the history and performance of law, while consulting for nonprofit and for-profit organizations.
Iowa House District 18 consists of Shelby County, as well as parts of western Crawford and eastern Harrison counties. Paul is excited to represent such a dynamic district of dedicated Iowans working in areas ranging from agriculture to education to healthcare to industries both large and small.
Paul graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School and earned two degrees summa cum laude from Creighton University. He was a merit scholar and is a distinguished graduate of the Iowa College of Law. Paul is completing his research for a doctorate from Northwestern where he was a Fellow at the Center for Leadership.
The mission of Paul’s campaign is simple: to build on the work of the Iowans who came before us to improve the lives of the Iowans who live here today and secure the future of the Iowans who will come next.
Paul is a Denison Young Professional who is helping organize a Leadership Summit for the summer of 2014. You may also find him on a theatrical stage. He toured nationally as an actor prior to law school. Most recently, he performed in Dear Donna and Within the Law both at the Donna Reed Theatre. Paul is a proud uncle to 30 nieces and nephews.
