Kim Huckstadt was born and raised in Postville, IA, the son of a US Navy Veteran and a high school teacher. Huckstadt received his BA in Biology Education from Beloit College, his MS in Education Administration from Western Illinois University, his Specialist in Education Administration from Drake University, and his Doctorate in Education Leadership from Western Illinois University.
Huckstadt recently retired as the Superintendent of Maquoketa Community Schools after 13 years. Prior to that, Huckstadt was both Assistant Principal and Principal of Maquoketa Middle School and was a science teacher and coach in the district since 1977.
Huckstadt is a member of several organizations including the Maquoketa Rotary Club, Maquoketa Area Foundation, Little Bear Park Committee, Maquoketa Area YMCA Annual Fund Campaign, Iowa Schoolmasters Walt Whitman Club, American Association of School Administrators, School Administrators of Iowa, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. He is a past member of the Maquoketa Area Chamber of Commerce and has been the recipient of numerous awards.
He and his wife, Luanne, a math teacher at Maquoketa High School, were married in 1975. They have one son, Tate, who is a student at Iowa State University.
