KarynFinnHudson School Board member Karyn Finn announced today that she will run for state representative in District 60, which includes parts of Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Hudson and Black Hawk County.

Karyn Finn is a dedicated public servant and community member involved in a host of organizations, including the Hudson Music & Athletic Boosters, Early Childhood Iowa Diversity Committee, National Program for Playground Safety, and the American Heart Association. She earned a degree in Physical Education from Tulane University, an Associate in the health care field from Kirkwood Community College and is currently finalizing a master’s degree in Community Health Education at UNI.

Finn and her husband, Kevin, have three children. Their oldest daughter, Juliann, attends Iowa State University and her other two children, Ryan and Carmen, attend Hudson High School.  The family attends Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Waterloo.

Finn grew up in New Orleans and her grandparents immigrated from Mexico.  If elected, she will become the first Latina to serve in the Iowa Legislature.
