State Representative Mary Mascher of Iowa City announced today that she will seek re-election to the Iowa House of Representatives in House District 86, which includes southern Iowa City, University Heights, and Hills.
Mascher is currently serving her eleventh term in the Iowa House. She serves on the Appropriations, Education, Local Government, and State Government committees. Mascher has proven to be a forceful voice for Iowa City on these committees.
Mascher was a school teacher and counselor in the Iowa City School District for over 33 years, and has been actively involved with the community. She helped establish the first girl’s softball league in Iowa City in 1988, and served as treasurer on its board of directors.
She has served on the board of directors for the Iowa City Community Theater, Iowa City Parks and Recreation Commission, and the Iowa City Riverfront Commission, and was President of the Iowa City Education Association.
Rep. Mascher’s family includes her son, Jason, his wife, Lyndsey and her twin grandsons, Aden and Cale.
