State Representative Marti Anderson of Des Moines announced today that she will seek re-election to the Iowa House of Representatives in House District 36, which includes the City of Des Moines Beaverdale area.
Anderson is currently serving her first term in the Iowa House. She serves on the Environmental Protection, Human Resources, Judiciary, and Public Safety Committees, and also on the Justice System Appropriations Subcommittee.
Anderson retired after 22 years as founding director of the Iowa Attorney General’s Crime Victim Assistance Division. Prior, she earned her BA in social work from UNI, her MSW from the University of Iowa, and is an Iowa Licensed Independent Social Worker. Marti began her social work career at Broadlawns Medical Center, as an early volunteer and later director of both the Polk County Family Violence Center and Polk County Victim Services (now Crisis & Advocacy). She lives with her husband of 20 years, Bob Brammer. She has a stepdaughter, Alissa, and a Stepson, Gabe, and two grandchildren, Violeta and Niconor.
