Bettendorf — Marie Gleason, a John Deere retiree and community activist, announced her candidacy today for the Iowa House District 94 which includes Bettendorf, Riverdale, Panorama Park, and Pleasant Valley Township.  

“It’s time for new leadership in the Iowa House who will  fight for strong public schools, affordable healthcare, and good-paying jobs with benefits.  I’m proud to call Bettendorf my home and look forward to getting to know the voters of District 94. As state representative, I’ll work together to do what’s best for our community,” said Gleason.

At John Deere, Gleason was a Project Manager in the Human Resource area and had also worked in several roles in Sales and Marketing.  During her time at John Deere, she received the U.S. Department of Transportation 9/11 Ribbon for providing assistance in the wake of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

Gleason is active in the community, including currently serving on the Board of Directors for Dress for Success Quad Cities, a non-profit organization empowering women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and development tools.   

Gleason earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University – Bloomington, a Master’s degree in Organizational Management from Tusculum University, and a certificate in European Studies from Tilburg University in the Netherlands.
