State Representative Bob Kressig of Cedar Falls announced today that he will seek re-election in the Iowa House of Representatives in House District 59, which includes Cedar Falls in Black Hawk County. Representative Kressig is currently serving his six term in the Iowa House of Representatives.

Rep. Kressig is Ranking Member of the Public Safety Committee. He is also seated on Local Government, Environmental Protection, and Commerce Committees, as well as Economic Development Appropriations Budget Subcommittee. He’s also on several councils including the Criminal and Juvenile Justice Planning Advisory, Criminal Justice Information System Advisory, Public Safety Advisory Board, and the Statewide Interoperable Communications System Board.

Kressig was born in Dubuque and grew up in Waterloo where his parents owned Verdies Cafe. He attended Hawkeye Tech where he completing welding coursework. He then attended the University of Northern Iowa where he completed his Post Secondary Teaching license. He worked at John Deere for 31 years, and as a John Deere/UAW Joint Trainer for ten years before his retirement.

Bob’s wife Liz is a paraeducator at Cedar Falls Community School District. They have two daughters and two grandchildren. In his spare time, Bob enjoys cycling and has ridden RAGBRAI several times.
