House Speaker Pat Murphy of Dubuque has appointed State Representative Bob Kressig of Cedar Falls as vice-chair of the House Commerce Committee, which considers all legislation regarding business, financial institutions, insurance, utilities and real estate.
“I trust Rep. Kressig to help us create an environment where businesses can thrive and create good paying jobs while ensuring Iowa consumers get a fair shake. I know he will work across party lines to build consensus on difficult issues,” said Murphy.
“Businesses large and small are struggling with rising health care costs that often get passed on to their employees. I look forward to listening to consumers, businesses and health care leaders to try and find some relief,” said Kressig.
Kressig is also vice-chair of the House Local Government Committee and serves on Environmental Protection, Public Safety, and the Administration & Regulation Appropriations Subcommittee. The 2008 legislative session begins on Monday, January 14, 2008.
