State Representative David Jacoby, D-Coralville, has been tapped to Chair the House Economic Development Appropriations Subcommittee by House Speaker Pat Murphy, D-Dubuque.
“Rep. Jacoby has a wide range of experience from local government to workforce development to community college. He has the skills and knowledge to make sure our job creation and training efforts are on the right track,” said Murphy. “I trust his leadership to help us create quality, high-paying jobs for the future.”
The Economic Development Appropriations Budget Subcommittee oversees funding for the Department of Economic Development and the Department of Workforce Development. It also provides funding for University research and ways to expand commercialization of products.
“I look forward to chairing this committee which is so vital to our corridor community,” said Jacoby.
Jacoby was elected to his third term in the Iowa House last year. He lives in Coralville with his wife and two daughters. He served on the Coralville City Council for two terms and works at Kirkwood Community College. Other committee assignments for Jacoby include Appropriations, Commerce, Human Resources and State Government.
Jacoby was selected as chair of the subcommittee after State Representative Swati Dandekar, D-Marion, announced she is running for the State Senate.
