Iowans packed the State Capitol on Monday night to oppose a Republican plan that would take away rights from police officers, teachers, nurses, fire fighters, correctional officers, and other hard-working Iowans. After a rally in the rotunda, the Iowa House hosted a public hearing a bill that would end collective bargaining in Iowa. 61 Iowans spoke out against the bill (House File 525) while just 4 supported it.
With the House Chamber filled to capacity, hundreds of Iowans watched and listened to the hearing in four committee rooms in the Capitol and on the first floor. The bill is expected to be debated in the Iowa House beginning on Wednesday morning.
