The Iowa Department of Revenue is urging Iowan’s to use the Iowa Free File program to file their taxes this year. The program is not just for low income tax filers. Taxpayers with an adjusted gross income of up to $58,000 can use the software to prepare and file their tax returns.
The program offered includes several name brand software titles, including OLT.com, TaxAct, TaxSlayer, H&R Block, Turbo Tax, or Liberty Tax Service. Iowan’s taxes can be prepared by this software and filed online.
Iowa is one of 21 states that participate in the program. According to the IRS, more than 40 million taxpayers nationwide have taken advantage of the Free File system since it was created.
Courtney Kay-Decker, director of the Iowa Department of Revenue, said, “Free File not only helps save taxpayers’ time and money, but also saves Iowa’s government money by encouraging electronic filing and reducing errors. E-filing is the fastest, safest, and easiest way to file your taxes, and the Iowa Free File program makes it even easier.”
