According to the 2009 College Readiness Report from ACT, Iowa students earned the 2nd highest scores on the ACT college preparation test in the nation witha composite score of 22.4.   African-American students posted the biggest gains with a 0.5 composite score increase over a year ago.

About 59% of Iowa’s 2009 graduating class took the test and more students reported taking a more rigorous curriculum in high school with at least three years of math, science, and social studies and four years of English.
