Rep. Jennifer Konfrst (D-Windsor Heights) was elected by her colleagues today to serve as Assistant Leader.

The first-term legislator who belongs to the most diverse cohort of incoming freshmen in state history, Rep. Konfrst will serve alongside House Democratic Leader Todd Prichard (D-Charles City) and three other democratic assistant leaders in coordinating House floor debate and passage of bills.

Rep. Konfst replaces fellow Polk County lawmaker Rep. John Forbes (D-Urbandale), who was recently chosen as Ranking Member of the House Health and Human Services Budget.

Today’s caucus election took place during the Democratic Policy Caucus, when legislators meet in Des Moines outside of the legislative session to discuss issues and priorities likely to be considered when the Legislature convenes January 13.
