Below is a statement from the 47 members of the Iowa House Democratic Caucus calling on Governor Reynolds
to Restore Felon Voting Rights by Executive Order

“In the closing days of session, Republican lawmakers chose politics over progress by refusing to allow more Iowans to exercise their right to vote. Iowa is now the only state in the nation that does not allow felons to vote after they have served their sentence.

After their right to vote was stripped away a decade ago, these Iowans have waited long enough. We believe it’s time for the Governor to take immediate action and sign an executive order to restore the voting rights of felons without additional barriers for registering or participating. They deserve to be active participants in our democratic process and they deserve to vote in November 2020.”
