On a 92-6 vote, the Iowa House approved $4.9 million from state gaming revenues on Thursday to ensure every county in Iowa has voting machines with a verified paper trail by the November, 2008 elections.   The paper trail requirement was approved last session in Senate File 369, but the resources approved today in Senate File 2347 will ensure local property tax payers won’t get stuck with the bill.

The bill has already cleared the Iowa Senate and now goes to the Governor’s desk.  A copy of the bill summary is available here.
