The House Education Committee today approved House Study Bill 215 to raise the state school aid formula 2 percent in the 2010-2011 school year, which means the state will increase funding by $56 million.

The committee also approved House Study Bill 216, which provides a O percent increase in 2010-2011 for other education programs like teacher salaries, professional development, and early internvention.

By law, the Legislature must set these two growth rates 30 days after the Governor submits his budget to the Legislature.   The bills now move to the House Floor.
