John was the youngest among his brothers and sisters and was raised to value education, and family values. John is the Business Department chair and Economics and Statistics professor at Muscatine community college, Muscatine, Iowa. John has been very active and served on several boards of directors for different organizations. His parents were instilled in their children the value of helping others. John is also a proud husband to wife Abeer and father to twin boys Nabeel & Anton.

Education is highly regarded in his family & he upholds this regards. John is very active with both students and staff at the college acting as Student Senate Advisor, Diversity and Globalizations Committee member. Mr. Dabeet is also a visiting professor at Moscow State University, Moscow, Russia; Vista University, Port Elizabeth, South Africa; Drohobych University, Drohobych, Ukraine, Alquds College, Amman, Jordan as well as an adjunct professor at Iowa Wesleyan College, Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Several awards have been presented to Mr. Dabeet, some of which are the Chancellor’s Award (Eastern Iowa Community Colleges,) Employee of the Month (Muscatine Community College,) Who’s Who Among American Teachers (national award), Young Outstanding Man of America (national award), The National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development Excellence Award (University of Texas at Austin), and 2002-2003 Muscatine Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Volunteerism Award, Muscatine Chamber of  Commerce and Industry Outstanding Service and Dedication in 2010 Award, and The Muscatine Sister Cities leadership Award for 2010, and finally was recognized by Sister Cities International in Washington DC as the 2006 as the 50th Anniversary Distinguish Volunteer.
