Curt Hanson was born, raised and educated in Iowa, and has been a resident of Fairfield for 44 years. He has a BA from the University of Northern Iowa, and an MA from The University of Iowa. For over 40 years he has been active in local and state political events and has served on many area and district committees.
Curt serves on the Environmental Protection, Natural Resources, Public Safety, and Transportation Committee, as well as the Education Appropriations Subcommittee. He was a Drivers Education teacher at Fairfield High School for 43 years and a public school teacher for 38 years.
Curt has been married for 40 years to Diane, a retired family and consumer sciences teacher. Curt and Diane have two children, Gina Kesselring and Scott Hanson.
Curt received the Fairfield Jaycee Outstanding Young Education Award in 1967, was named the Fairfield Teacher of the Year in 1994, and was named the National Driver Education Teacher of the year runner-up in 2003.
He was a Driver Education teacher at Fairfield High School for 43 years and a public school teacher for 38 years. He has also been an amateur radio operator, a private pilot, and a cub scout pack leader. Curt is the former president of the Iowa Association of Safety Education, and is a business manager of the Iowa Association of Safety Education. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Fairfield Kiwanis, and the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce.
