Representative Kirsten Running-Marquardt is serving her 2nd term in the Iowa House. She was elected in November 2009 in the special election. She is a Ranking Member of the Economic Development Appropriations Subcommittee. She also serves on the Appropriations, Economic Growth/Rebuild Iowa, Labor and Local Government committees.
Representative Running-Marquardt is a resident of Cedar Rapids, IA. She is married to Coy Marquardt and they have one son, Jack. She is a District Representative for the office of Congressman Dave Loebsack.
Representative Running-Marquardt graduated from LaSalle High School, attended Kirkwood Community College and graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Political Science. She has also earned credits at the University of Northern Iowa towards a Masters in Public Policy. Running-Marquardt is a member of John XXIII Catholic Church and is a board member of the State of Iowa’s High Risk Insurance Pool. She is also a member of CR netWORK and a previous director of Iowa for Health Care.
