Bill and his wife Jan are 25-year residents of Waverly, where he owns a main street business helping individuals and families with their life insurance, disability insurance and mutual fund needs.  Bill is currently a member of the Waverly Rotary Club, the Knights of Columbus and the “Sons of the American Legion”.

Since moving to Waverly, Bill has been very active with several community organizations and had the honor of serving as chair of the Waverly–Shell Rock High School Booster Club, the United Way of Waverly-Shell Rock, the Waverly Parks and Recreation Board, St. Mary’s Catholic Church Parish Council, and Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community’s Strategic Planning Committee, Board of Directors and Foundation.

Over the years, Bill served as a volunteer youth basketball coach and a baseball coach for the Waverly Little League and Senior League programs, Wartburg College and Waverly-Shell Rock High School. Bill was a co-founder and director of the Waverly Classic Youth Baseball Tournament for several years.

Bill was raised in Dysart, a farming community of about 1,100 people in Tama County.  He was the first of his siblings to graduate from a 4 year college, graduating from the University of Iowa in 1972.  While at Iowa, he played on the Hawkeye baseball team, earning 1st Team “All Big Ten” as a pitcher his senior year and leading the Hawkeyes to the Big Ten Championship and a berth in the 1972 NCAA Division I College World Series in Omaha, NE.

In 1986, Bill and Jan moved their growing family to Waverly, where Bill spent 10 years with Century Companies of America, now CUNA Mutual.  In 1996 the family was faced with a decision to either stay in Waverly or move to Madison, WI.  Due to their strong belief that Iowa and, specifically, the Waverly area was where they wanted to live and raise their sons, Bill and Jan decided to stay in Waverly and Bill went on to start his own business, Financial Architects.

Bill and Jan were married in 1972, so they will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary in June of this year. Jan is a Board Certified hospital chaplain in Waterloo.

Bill and Jan have three grown sons, Thomas, Andrew and Patrick.
