Tom Schueller served three terms in the Iowa House of Representatives and served as the Chair of the Rebuild Iowa and Disaster Recovery Committee. Currently, Tom is owner and lead partner of Schueller and Sons Reconstruction Company. He retired from John Deere and Co. after 30 years and is a member of the U.A.W.
Tom Schueller grew up on the Century Farm dairy operation of his parents, Walter and Marie Schueller, which is now owned by his brother. Tom graduated from Hempstead High School and attended Clinton Community College.
Tom and his wife Melodie have three grown children: Ginger, Peter, and Benjamin. His sons and Ginger’s husband are partners in Schueller and Sons, founded in 1976, the year that Tom and Melodie married and moved to Melodie’s hometown of Maquoketa.
Tom is active in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bellevue and Maquoketa 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, WW Turkey Federation, Pheasants 4-Ever, and the Rotary Club International. He and his entire family have a lifelong history of involvement in his community. Tom and Melodie have instilled those values of service in their family, where Peter and Benjamin are both volunteer firefighters and Peter is an EMT and Ginger served in the National Guard, based in Clinton.
Tom ran for the Maquoketa City Council to bring fiscal responsibility and focus on results. As member of the Maquoketa City Council for 11 years, he has helped create of 500 jobs in Maquoketa, worked to improve the quality of life, and lead the successful effort to establish a capital improvements plan for the city.
In 2008, Tom served as a legislative appointee to the housing work group of Governor Culver’s Rebuild Iowa Advisory Commission. The commission was charged with developing short- and long-term plans for rebuilding and recovering from the natural disasters of 2008.
