A lifelong Grimes native, Kelsey Clark is a graduate of Drake Law School. Her parents are Becky and Ray Coons of Grimes and George and Mary Clark of Carlisle. Becky and Ray are both small business owners in Grimes and her mother teaches Drama at Dallas Center-Grimes High School. Her father George also earned his degree from Drake in Journalism.

Clark is a graduate of Dallas Center Grimes High School where she was active in volleyball and softball, as well as in dance, cheerleading and choir. During high school, she worked at the local grocery store in Grimes, Mr. Bill’s (now True Value), as well as at Rookie’s Bar and Grill (now Fatboyz Saloon) and the Iowa Machine Shed.

Kelsey earned scholarships to Drake University and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Politics and Society in 2007.  She has worked for the Iowa Medicaid Project and worked at Childserve in Johnston helping children and adults with disabilities. She is currently still employed at Childserve.

After earning her undergraduate degree from Drake, Kelsey worked full time at Childserve until starting law school in the fall of 2009.  While in law school, she was a member of the Drake Law Democrats and has served as a Student Ambassador. Kelsey has also interned with the General Counsel for Childserve, clerked at the Tucker Law Firm, worked as a legal research assistant, served as a student attorney in Drake’s Legal Clinic/Elder Law Clinic and interned for two sessions at the Iowa Capitol.

Kelsey earned her law degree with a Certificate in Legislative Practices in May 2012.  She enjoys being outdoors, being with animals and being with her friends and family.
