A 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony will be held on Sunday at the State Capitol to honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

The ceremony, that is set to start at 7:30 a.m. on the east side of the state capitol, will feature remarks by General Timothy Orr of the Iowa National Guard, Brig. General Derek Hill of Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division, Barry Ferguson of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Commissioner Larry Noble of the Iowa Department of Public Safety. In addition Simon Estes and Linda Jucket will be preforming.

The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend. Seating is limited, although all are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for the ceremony.

The United States Air Force has placed 2,977 flags on the Capitol grounds along East Grand Avenue to honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2011.
