Curt Hanson was born, raised and educated in Iowa. He has been a resident of Fairfield for 46 years. Curt earned a BA from the University of Northern Iowa and an MA from the University of Iowa.
Curt is a Ranking Member of Natural Resources committee and serves on the Agriculture, Education, Transportation and Education Appropriations subcommittees.
Curt has been married for 42 years to Diane, a retired family and consumer sciences teacher. Curt and Diane have two grown, married children and 2 grandchildren.
Curt received the Fairfield Jaycee Outstanding Young Education Award, was named the Fairfield Teacher of the Year, and was named the National Driver Education Teacher of the year runner-up.
He was a Driver Education teacher at Fairfield High School for 43 years. He has also been an amateur radio operator, a private pilot, and a cub-scout pack leader.
Curt is the former president of the Iowa Association of Safety Education, and has been a business manager of the Iowa Association of Safety Education. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Fairfield Kiwanis, and the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce. For over 40 years he has been active in local and state political events and has served on many area and district committees.
