He has been employed at Alcoa in Riverdale since 1997, for the past ten years as an Ultrasonic Inspector. Prior to Alcoa, Saxon was a lithographer at International Paper in Clinton. He served three terms as Vice President of GCIU local 518M. He’s been active in his union for 23 of his 26 year membership.
During the same time period, Saxon co-founded Superior Floors, a flooring installation business which was later fully purchased by his partner.
Saxon and his wife Lisa reside in Camanche and are the parents of two grown children. His daughter Ashly, also of Camanche, works with Lisa in the family business, Trademarks Hair Co. in Clinton, and his son Carl is a 2013 graduate of the University of Iowa and is set to begin a new position in safety training with Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART).
He’s owned and run a locally owned flooring business, and a hair salon with his wife.
Saxon comes from an extended farm family on his mother’s side while his father’s family farmed in Jones County.
In his community, Jay has enjoyed coaching baseball, football, and wrestling along with singing and playing the guitar. He’s a member member Clinton County Democrat’s Central Committee, the County Veterans Liaison, and has been very active working to elect candidates up and down the ticket. During the 2012 election he was the political coordinator for his local, USW 105.
House District 97 includes Dewitt, Camanche, Le Claire, Grand Mound, Princeton, Park View, Wheatland, Delmar
