Iowa House District 88
Lanny Hillyard, former Purina Animal Nutrition Sales Manager, husband, and father community leader and volunteer, announced today that he plans to run for Iowa House district 88. The district is located in southeastern Iowa and includes Louisa county and parts of Muscatine and Des Moines counties.
Hillyard was born to a farming family in rural Des Moines county and learned a strong sense of work ethic from working on his family farm and a deep sense of community from living and growing up in a small town.
Lanny recently retired from his career at Purina Animal Nutrition but remains active in the community. He is on the Southeastern Community College and MTC Technology boards and a member of the Mediapolis Lions Club and Kingston United Methodist Church. Throughout his life, Hillyard also had a passion for teaching. He was a Vocational Agriculture FFA instructor who lead a chapter that earned numerous student awards and achievements as well as serving as Lay Leader and Sunday School teacher at his church.
Lanny is happily married for over 44 years to Dana, a retired educator. They have two adult children, Nick and Lindsay, and three grandchildren. In his free time, Lanny enjoys boating, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
