Iowa House District 50
Dennis Evans is a father, husband, lifelong Iowan, MidWestOne Bank vice president and trust officer, and community volunteer and is running for House District 50. District 50 includes Grundy county and parts of Hardin and Butler counties.
Evans grew up on a farm in central Iowa. Dennis’ family experienced tragedies that have allowed him to understand how families face difficult situations often beyond their control. His brother passed away from injuries received in the Vietnam War. His father and sister lived with and died from early onset Alzheimer’s Disease. Dealing with these situations has allowed Dennis to learn empathy for families dealing with both the cost of long term health care and the impact it has on those families emotionally and financially.
Dennis put himself through college earning a degree in education from Central College. He taught for a few years, eventually changing careers to become a banker. He currently is the vice president and trust officer for the MidWestOne Bank serving the communities of Conrad, Parkersburg, Cedar Falls, Belle Plaine, and Waterloo. Dennis has worked in the trust and banking world for over 35 years which included working for Lincoln Savings Bank in Reinbeck and Guaranty Bank of Cedar Rapids.
Dennis is married to his wife Marilyn a retired special education teacher; they have four grown sons and 6 grandchildren. He has also been an active volunteer in his community, volunteering for groups like American Red Cross, Alzheimer's Association, Dollars for Scholars, Boy Scouts, United Way, and AARP.
