Iowa House District 17
Janice Creasman is running for Iowa House in District 17, which includes Onawa, Mapleton, Pisgah, and Missouri Valley.
Janice, currently a geriatric social worker, has been married for nine years to a software engineer. She has a daughter who is employed and responsible for networking computers. Her daughter is married and her son-in-law is a prison guard. Janice has one granddaughter.
As a social worker, Janice has spent her life working with the people that most need government services. The arenas have spanned adult and child protective services; health care; adult, child and family services; substance abuse; mental health; and homelessness.
Janice was born and raised in Mondamin, Iowa. Her undergraduate was from Westmar College in Le Mars, where she graduated with a teaching certification and majored in history and French. Her master’s degree in social work is from the University of Iowa.
Janice and her family are members of the Mondamin United Methodist Church. In the past, she has served as lay speaker, on the Board of Church and Society at the state and district level and as a representative at annual conferences for many years and in numerous positions. She has worked with ecumenical movements for pooling resources for human needs.
