Iowa House District 10
Calhoun County native, attorney, and small business owner Jake Thompson announced that he will seek election as State Representative for Iowa House District 10.
The son of a local corrections officer and a waitress, Thompson grew up on a farm outside Rockwell City and now practices law at his firm, Thompson Law Firm, PLC located on Main Street in Manson, Iowa.
Thompson is dedicated to fighting for the rights of rural middle class families like his own who have been consistently hurt and ignored by policies that prioritize corporations and groups with no ties to the local area over the interests of hard-working Iowans.
After graduating from Rockwell City-Lytton High School, Thompson earned his bachelor’s degree and played football at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. He later went on to earn both a master’s degree and juris doctorate from the University of Iowa. Like many Iowans, Thompson benefited from his state’s excellent educational system and skilled teachers. He wants to ensure that the next generation has the same opportunity to succeed.
Beyond the workplace, rural Iowans have been cast aside by many other recent policies. With a state budget in chaos, Iowa’s elected leaders have grossly neglected issues like mental health care, education, and the opioid epidemic.
