From the Dubuque Telegraph-Herald:
The 2008 race to represent the northern half of Dubuque in the Iowa Legislature changed greatly Friday as one Democratic candidate entered while another dropped out.
Charles Isenhart, former executive director of the Dubuque Area Labor-Management Council, announced he will seek the 27th House District seat being vacated by Rep. Pam Jochum. Jochum will be running for the Iowa Senate seat held by retiring lawmaker Mike Connolly.
Meanwhile, John Michalski announced his withdrawal from the 27th District race.
Michalski, who has been a philosophy and theology instructor at the University of Dubuque, said a new job opportunity with a local business made it impossible for him to continue a run for state office.
Isenhart, 48, left the Labor-Management Council in October to start a private consulting business. He said he began exploring the possibilities of holding office at the urging of others.
