turbineIowa held on to the #2 spot for wind energy production in a new report from the American Wind Energy Association released this week.  Iowa added 160 megawatts of capacity last quarter to bring total wind energy production in Iowa over 3,000 MW for the first time, which is enough to power over 900,000 homes.

In an effort to make Iowa an energy independent state, the Legislature approved several measures last session to expand renewable energy production, including: expanded tax credits for renewable energy research, incentives to encourage small wind energy production, creation of Wind Innovation Zones, and continued support of the Iowa Power Fund.
