Daniel was born and raised in Marion and is a fifth generation Iowan. His mother, Mary Lundby, served in the Iowa House of Representatives and Senate from 1987-2009. His father, Michael, works at Quaker Oats.
Daniel’s experience in politics started at a young age while working side-by-side on his mother’s political campaigns and continued working towards her successful elections over the next twenty years. She taught him both as a mother and a legislator: that listening to the voters in the district, protecting their rights, and working in a bipartisan effort to protect the important qualities that makes Iowa great is what made her a successful public servant respected by everyone.
Daniel attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Elementary in Marion and Regis High School in Cedar Rapids. Earning his AA degree from Kirkwood Community College and continuing his education at Iowa State University, earning his B.S in 2003. Upon graduation, he accepted work as a technician in New York City, and entered the workforce.
He returned to Iowa to be at his mother’s side and aid his father with her care during her battle with cancer. At this time Daniel chose to return to Iowa permanently and offer his family support. He returned to Iowa State University, where he obtained his Master’s degree in December 2011. While at Iowa State, Daniel studied the impact of small businesses on local communities by participating in a main street revival program in Grinnell where he designed and renovated a vacant space into a retail Co-op to attract new businesses to the small community. As a student, Daniel represented Iowa State and traveled to Montreal and Philadelphia conferences where he presented several examples of his work, earning top honors.
As a candidate for Iowa House District 68 Daniel is working hard earning the respect of the people in the district asking for their support to serve in Des Moines to work towards returning jobs, reforming education to restore Iowa back to first in the nation, and improving Iowa’s infrastructure through fiscal responsibility.

I am the city administrator in Central City and I wanted to invite you to an event we are having Monday morning. I know you are in session now but Central City is being recognized as River Town of the Year by Iowa River Revival. We will be holding a reception here at the civic center at 10:30 Monday (Jan. 21) to receive the honor. After the reception we will be doing a tour of our river improvements and if the weather holds we will be ending at the Mary Lundby Bridge in Pinicon Ridge. We are very proud of the working relationship we have with Linn County Conservation and your mother’s bridge is the highlight of the connected trail system from Central City to the park.
