Iowa’s  unemployment rate dropped to 5.2 percent in September from 5.5 percent the previous month. In comparison the 2011 September rate was at 5.9 percent. Also the U.S. unemployment rate for September also decreased by three-tenths of a percentage point, falling to 7.8 percent from 8.1 percent in August.

The number of unemployed Iowans decreased to 85,800 in September from 89,700 in August a decrease of 3,900.
