$11 Million in Rental Assistance Available

Iowa has received $11 million in home rental assistance to help Iowans maintain or acquire an affordable rental home. Iowa Rental Help can provide qualified Iowa renters with rent and utility payments for up to 18 months as well as, moving expenses, security deposits, and rental deposits. Qualified homeowners who are moving into rental units and homeless individuals and families who seek rental housing can access the funds for affordable housing search and placement, case management, and budget counseling.

Iowa received $11 million for rental assistance from the federal stimulus package, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). A total of $1.5 billion was allocated by the federal government to cities and states for the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program.
