Vicki Lensing is serving her fourth term in the Iowa House. She serves as Chair of the Government Oversight Committee and also serves on the Environmental Protection, Judiciary, and State Government Committees.

Vicki was born June 21, 1957 in Iowa City, the daughter of John and Patti Mott. She grew up in the family business, Mott’s Drug Store, which was owned and operated by her grandparents. A life long resident of Iowa City, she graduated from West High School in 1975 and from the University of Iowa in 1979.

Vicki is co-owner of Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service. She developed and facilitated several bereavement support groups for adults and children and works actively with Iowa City Hospice, Iowa Children’s Hospital, Mercy Hospital, Veteran’s Administration Medical Center and the Iowa City Community School District on educational and support programs.

She is married to Rich Templeton. She has three children: Amanda, who works in film and television production in New York City and sons Alex, who attends Kirkwood Community College and manages Faithful Companions and pet crematory and Nick, who lives in Chicago

She served as chair of the Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce in 2000 and is a 1996 graduate of the Community Leadership Program.

Vicki is a past president of the Districtwide Parents Organization. She served on the City High School Site Council as a parent representative and as the facilitator for the Weber Elementary Site Council.

She also served on the board of the Community Foundation of Johnson County. She is past president of the Johnson County Woman’s Network. She is one of the co-founders of the Woman’s Leadership Circle of the Johnson County United Way.

She currently serves on the board of Community Corrections Improvement Association, the Reading Recovery Council of Iowa and the IOWAccess Advisory Council.

Vicki was formerly President of Preferred Funeral Directors International.
