Ann Fairchild, of Fertile, is a production assembler at Fleetguard in Lake Mills. She is also a community leader; people often approach her to speak up on their behalf.
During her 15 years at Fleetguard, Ann has held many different positions: set-up operator, fork truck operator and assembly line floater. She has been a part of many teams, one of which saved the company $105,000 with a cost-saving idea. Ann has also worked for Winnebago Industries, RV Transport and Capt. K’s Ice Cream.
Ann was born in Decorah and raised in Calmar. She graduated from South Winneshiek High School after attending St. Aloysius Catholic School through eighth grade. James, her father, was an Army veteran and a commander in the American Legion. He worked for Reilly Construction driving trucks and did road construction for more than 20 years. Veronica, her mother, was a waitress and bartender for over 25 years.
Ann has been married to James Fairchild for 31 years. James was born in Keota. He worked for Winnebago Industries for almost 20 years until he became disabled in 2002. The couple have two children: LeAnn Peebels and Brian Fairchild, both of whom attended Forest City Community Schools. LeAnn is the manager of a Kum & Go in Ames. She has one son, Alexander. Brian lives in Fertile and works for Holland Contracting in Forest City. He was a member of the volunteer fire department and enjoys riding bulls in rodeos.
Ann attends Fertile Lutheran Church, where she has been a Sunday School teacher. She has also has served on the volunteer fire department and was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts.
Ann attended Waldorf College.
